Polynesian music is used to tell stories of. the polyneisan culture it's one of their traditions. Polynesian music is catchy and is usually in major key. It can be Monophonic, Homophonic or Polyphonic depending on the style of the song. Polynesian music has a tropical/chilled tonality. It has a very repetitive melodic line and uses primary chords 1, 3, 4, 5.
In my composition there is an acoustic guitar ( Mia ) and two vocalists ( Frankie and I ). The vocals are the melody and the guitar is accompaniment. The composition I made is homophonic and has a vibrant and tropical tonality. It is catchy and a basic example of a polynesian song. The composition is in G major and contains chords G,C, D on the acoustic guitar. The chords are very repetitive throughout the composition. The tempo is 80bpm in common time. The vocals and acoustic guitar start at the same time at the beginning of the song and have a finger snap once every 2 bars on the 4th crotchet note. The composition is in simple quadruple meter 4/4. The composition's structure is just Verse 1. The 'band' we are performing in is made up of females. The duration of the composition is moderate and it goes for about 60 seconds. The composition used no technology and the sound wasn't adjusted. The composition is quite quiet and simple. The vocal range is different between Frankie and I so it adds depth to the song.
